We teach sailing and important life lessons.
In sailing, we start by teaching theory.
Every morning, we begin with a classroom session which goes over theory and explains what they will practice that day. Then sailors head out into the harbor and turn theory into practice. Over the week, the kids learn terminology, rigging, hoisting, trimming, steering, tacking, jibing and much, much more!
Sailing is also great for teaching life lessons. Simple duties like coiling the ropes, washing down the boat and making everything ship-shape can spill over into every day life. “Oh, that’s why I should clean my room!”
Sailing also teaches self-confidence. It’s easy to learn to tie a figure-8 knot. But then suddenly, you know how to tie it and you can show other people. You are now a leader. Over the course of each week, teens will learn how to rig and sail a boat. Back at school in the fall, your kid will have a special skill which makes them unique and a stand-out.
Sailing for one week on a boat creates teamwork and camaraderie. You can’t raise a sail without several hands working in unison. The skipper can’t chart a course without getting his or her crew to adjust the sheets. Lasting friendships are created by sailing together on boats.
Tuition for a full week is $294.00. To enroll and reserve your child's spot in this week's Sail Camp, you will need to pay 50% of the tuition fee – $147, the rest will be paid on the first day of class. Payment can be made by credit or debit card or check. This program is open to children and teens between the ages of 8 and 18.

What Parents Say about Sail Buffalo’s Junior Sail Camp
Sail Buffalo is summer for my son, two years in a row now. It’s not an
exaggeration to say that this is probably the most formative experience of
his life so far. Of course camp has been a platform for a sailing education,
but just as importantly it’s a place for developing relationships and
leadership. He is benefiting a great deal from having mentors across a
broad range of ages and backgrounds. The instructors have challenged
him and given him room to step into larger responsibilities while ensuring
that he has appropriate guidance and preparation. It has quite literally
opened up a whole new world for him. We’ll continue to be a part of this
organization for as long as possible.
This past summer I sent my nine year old son Sam to Sail Buffalo’s Junior
Sailing Camp for two weeks. His favorite activities – skippering a dinghy
with a fellow camp-mate, tying knots, and angling into the true wind on a
keel boat for speed…Rather than buying my kid still another lego set, I will give him more opportunities to learn how to sail his own
