Join Our Sailing Community – Come Boating

Join Our Community of Friends and Members

Sail Buffalo is a Community Sailing & Boating Center and with a different philosophy than of a yacht club, since you do not have to be a member to participate in programs. There are no mandatory monthly fees to sustain a restaurant. Once you pass the sailing certification class(ASA or US Sailing Certifications) or if you already are in possession of a “US Sailing Certificate” issued by another sailing school, and we both think that you are ready and a good fit to be a friend of Sail Buffalo with Skipper privileges, you will be invited to join.

We at Sail Buffalo know that boat ownership costs approximately $3-4000 per year for maintenance, storage, dock rentals and insurance. We offer an affordable option: a one time initiation fee of $500 plus $695 seasonal membership fee provides unlimited usage and access to water and available boats. The Weekly Mon-Fri option is $595.

We do accept partial payments. Please note – the initiation fee is for keel boat access only. We do take pride in well serviced engines and functioning gear on our boats, something you will appreciate while on the water!

Sail Buffalo

The Sail Buffalo project entails the transformation of an abandoned inlet into a Community Boating Center that provides public access to Buffalo’s waterfront. We are an accredited sailing school with a mission to create an exciting safe and secure facility on Buffalo’s Outer Harbor, enabling public access to the waterfront through boating, wellness and environmental programming. Our goal is to provide a destination for on-the-water training, holistic learning experiences, wellness and environmental education regardless of income, gender and age, including people with disabilities, and to provide a safe-haven for young veterans and their families.

Our History

Being on the water is a truly transformative experience. After the launch of our unique Eco Floating Classroom 2011, and after merging with Cazenovia Community Resource Center (501-C-3) during 2012, we have finally found an ideal location at 2 Fuhrmann Blvd by the USCG, and created a true Community Boating Center!
